I'm fortunate to have worked in the communications industry for more than 20 years, working with blue-chip international companies, FMCG's and small niche businesses. With hands-on experience in external and internal communications, event management and working in partnership with HR functions on employee engagement enabled me to become a true communications expert.
I love everything about communications. Yes, I like a good chat with a cuppa (who doesn't?), but I love seeing what I do make a difference in the workplace. Once described as courageous, tenacious and honest in achieving my work goals, I enjoy working at pace, pushing the communications agenda and delivering results.
My career in the communications world began when completing a BA (Hons) PR degree by the sea at Bournemouth University. Covering a multitude of topics, I soon realised how diverse the industry was, and the different avenues it could take me.
I headed back to my hometown of Manchester for a role at leading global PR agency Weber Shandwick Worldwide. I then moved to Nottingham to co-direct a PR & Marketing agency, and worked with high-street retailer Boots, working with teams in Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Outside of Benton Communications, I provide award-winning pub and hotel The Staunton Arms (the family business) with PR and finance management support, and I’m a busy PA and chauffeur to my two teenage daughters.
